Score WizardKnowing your credit score lets you get a better understanding of the type of loan and interest rate you are likely to receive. Even if you are just starting on the homebuying or refinancing process, getting this information early allows you to make changes that can improve your credit score, and get a better rate.

For a nominal charge of $21.00, which is billed to your credit card, you will receive a report listing your credit history with the three major credit reporting agencies -- Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union. You'll also see your FICO score, which is used by credit issuers to determine your creditworthiness.

If your credit is less than perfect, you'll also have an opportunity to learn how you can quickly improve your credit score -- sometimes by doing simple things, like closing out credit accounts you no longer use, or paying off small balances ahead of big ones.

You'll also see if there is out of date or mistaken information on your credit report, and you'll be able to correct it in time to affect the rate you'll get for your mortgage.
